MGTA wins Community Fund grant

(The grant will fund preliminary work on this planned section of the trail, from its current end at Dollar General to Village Wine & Spirits.)

The South Cumberland Community Fund (SCCF) has awarded the Mountain Goat Trail Alliance an $8,000 grant, which will be used for surveying and preliminary engineering on the portion of planned Mountain Goat Trail in Monteagle between its current terminus west of Dollar General and Village Wine & Spirits.

“Since its beginning, the South Cumberland Community Fund has been a strong supporter of the Mountain Goat Trail — this is the third grant they’ve awarded to the MGTA,” said Patrick Dean, MGTA executive director. “We’re very gratified by this latest demonstration of their support. These grant funds will allow us to move forward on one of the most in-demand sections of the Trail, which eventually allow trail users even more access to amenities in Monteagle.”

The South Cumberland Community Fund works to improve the quality of life across the South Cumberland Plateau by increasing philanthropic giving and providing community leadership. More information can be found at southcumberlandcommunityfund.org.
