MGTA wins tree grant
The Mountain Goat Trail Alliance (MGTA) has been awarded a $20,000 grant from the Tennessee Department of Agriculture Division of Forestry’s Community Tree Planting Program.
In collaboration with High Canopy Tree Service of Sewanee, the MGTA will plant native trees and shrubs along the newly-completed section of the trail in Monteagle near Summerfield.
“We’re excited to work with High Canopy on this project which will provide shade, habitat, and a host of other benefits to the environment as well as to trail users,” said Patrick Dean, executive director of the MGTA.
Work on the tree planting project should begin this fall.
