Sewanee Welcome Center Opens

The Sewanee Welcome Center was officially opened on October 1, as a collaboration between the MGTA, the Sewanee Civic Association, the University of the South, and Tennessee State Parks.

Remarks were made by Meg Beasley on behalf of the Sewanee Class of ‘73, which donated over $100,000 to renovate the interior of the former train depot; Patrick Dean, executive director of the MGTA; and University Vice Chancellor Rob Pearigen.

The Welcome Center will function as a trailhead for the Mountain Goat Trail, as an information center for visitors and community members, and as an interim headquarters for the staff of the Head of the Crow State Park.
